Windows Cleaner: Protect Your Online and Offline Privacy
By Articles 99
It is prudent to install a window cleaner on your computer to protect your privacy against large-scale personal identity theft threats prevalent these days.
If you do not want anyone to invade your privacy on your personal computer, installing Window cleaner is certainly the way to go. Let me explain to you a brief overview of why you need to install the windows cleaner and how does it help you protect your online and offline privacy.
Why Is The Need To Install Window Cleaner
All your activities on your computer are tracked by your operating system in various places. These places include document histories, cookies, temporary Internet files, etc. While you work offline or surf the Internet, all your activities are stored in the form of various files in these folders. Windows cleaner makes sure that all such information is removed when you shut down your computer system. Thus, it maintains your privacy. Other users on the same computer do not get to know about your online or offline activities.
Is This Just All About Maintaining Privacy?
No, it is not like that. Windows does not only maintain your online and offline privacy by deleting the various history folders, but it also keeps your computer free from garbage files that are stored in your computer system while you browse Internet. These garbage files include various application files and temporary files. A huge log of such files may cause certain problems for your computer. For example, it may slow down the processing speed of your computer, or sometimes it may intercept in the running of some software applications. Sometimes, it may also cause your computer hang. Therefore, it is not just all about maintaining your online or offline privacy, but by installing and running a free Window cleaner, you ensure a safe and soothing working experience on your computer system.
Can The Windows Cleaner Be Customized?
Yes, it is not like that the windows cleaner will always automatically erase all the history and junk folders. It will do so only if you have adjusted such a setting in its options menu. You can easily customize the same as per your requirement. It allows you to erase browser cache, cookies, history, visited URLs, typed URLs, auto-complete data, index.dat, temp folders, search history, open/save history, recent documents and more. At the same time, it also allows you to specify cookies to keep, so that you do not erase your important login cookies.
Overall, if you want to keep your online and offline privacy on, and want your computer to be free from all the unwanted junk and garbage files, installing Windows cleaner is certainly the way to go.
Microsoft Surface - Future Possibilities!
What is Microsoft Surface? Microsoft Surface™, the first commercially available surface computer from Microsoft Corp., turns an ordinary tabletop into a vibrant, interactive surface. The product provides effortless interaction with digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects. Surface is a 30-inch display in a table-like form factor that's easy for individuals or small groups to interact with in a way that feels familiar, just like in the real world. In essence, it's a surface that comes to life for exploring, learning, sharing, creating, buying and much more. Soon to be available in restaurants, hotels, retail establishments and public entertainment venues, this experience will transform the way people shop, dine, entertain and live.
How does Surface work?
At a high level, Surface uses cameras to sense objects, hand gestures and touch. This user input is then processed and the result is displayed on the surface using rear projection.
What is surface computing?
Surface computing is a new way of working with computers that moves beyond the traditional mouse-and-keyboard experience. It is a natural user interface that allows people to interact with digital content the same way they have interacted with everyday items such as photos, paintbrushes and music their entire life: with their hands, with gestures and by putting real-world objects on the surface. Surface computing opens up a whole new category of products for users to interact with.
What are the key attributes of surface computing?
Surface computing has four key attributes:
• Direct interaction. Users can actually "grab" digital information with their hands and interact with content by touch and gesture, without the use of a mouse or keyboard.
• Multi-touch contact. Surface computing recognizes many points of contact simultaneously, not just from one finger, as with a typical touch screen, but up to dozens and dozens of items at once.
• Multi-user experience. The horizontal form factor makes it easy for several people to gather around surface computers together, providing a collaborative, face-to-face computing experience.
• Object recognition. Users can place physical objects on the surface to trigger different types of digital responses, including the transfer of digital content.
How does Surface benefit consumers?
Surface breaks down the traditional barriers between people and technology, providing effortless interaction with digital content. Similar to the way ATMs changed how people got money from the bank, Microsoft is changing the way people will interact with all kinds of everyday content, including photos, music, a virtual concierge and games. Common, everyday tasks become entertaining, enjoyable and engaging, alone or face-to-face with family, friends or co-workers.

How can I secure my home computer from the internet?
|
 |
Viruses and spyware have become a very large problem for every level of users connected to the Internet. With the majority of financial and government agencies offering services online, personal security is becoming the number one concern with many people. Certain malicious software can record key strokes and other personal information that can be used to steal your identity and access your computer. The following are some recommendations and tips on how to properly secure your home computer from outside attacks.
The first step in providing a secure network is a hardware router, which is an appliance that blocks all incoming traffic to your computer and hides your internal computer’s IP address from outside sources. If an individual or malicious program tries to access your IP address they will only see the router and not your internal systems. If you’re using Windows XP SP2 or above, make sure your software firewall is enabled. In conjunction with a hardware router this will make it extremely difficult for anything to get in.
Linksys is our recommended router brand for home users.
The second step is to secure your computer with software programs to combat invaders that are allowed into your computer via email, downloads or pop-up windows. First and foremost is antivirus protection, which will scan all incoming files from various sources and quarantine or delete malicious software. Some antivirus programs have a bad reputation for slowing down a system. A well-designed antivirus system will not make a significant impact. Some antivirus companies include a spyware scanner. It’s always good to have another program installed that is dedicated to the task as well.
Eset’s NOD32 is our recommended antivirus program for home users.
Recommended antispyware software:
Windows Defender (free by Microsoft, included in Windows Vista)
SpyBot (free for personal and business use)
Ad-Aware 2007 (free for personal, home use only)
Hitman Pro 2.6 (free and time-limited evaluation for home use only)
The third step is to review the software on your computer and the way you use it. Make sure your computer’s software, especially the operating system, is up to date. Many viruses and spyware programs take advantage in vulnerabilities in outdated software to let themselves in. Some Internet browsers provide better security then others using integrated pop-up blockers and security policies. The majority of viruses and spyware programs come in to your system by users accidentally allowing them, whether it be from opening a suspicious email or by clicking on a pop-up window to install their software. The best policy is if you don’t know what it is, don’t open or install it. Only install software from reputable software companies that guarantee themselves to be spyware-free. Many users take advantage of peer-to-peer file sharing software such as LimeWire. This adds a security vulnerability to your system which you have very little control over. Our recommendation is to not use these programs, as part of ensuring your system is more secure.
