Why VODAStor 2.0 Backup Services?
The Easiest, Fastest and Safest Way to Reliably Backup all of Your Important Information
Never Worry About Losing Critical Data Again.
VODAStor 2.0 is an automated data backup and restoration system providing powerful tools to protect your organization’s data. Unlike traditional data protection tools, VODAStor 2.0 does not require any human assistance beyond the initial installation and setup. There is no media to install, remove, protect, or replace. VODAStor 2.0 is highly secure and only you have access to your information and data. We call it, eSafe, eSimple, and eSecure!
Your valuable data is encrypted and stored at a VODAStor 2.0 secure data center. Without your password, no one else can read or use your confidential information. Not even the staff at VODA Computer Systems.
How Does VODAStor 2.0 Work?
Install a small VODAStor 2.0 client software application on your computer to manage all of your data protection and restoration. After you easily identify what data you want to protect, VODAStor 2.0 encrypts and compresses this data and then transfers a master copy to a VODAStor 2.0 data center.
During the 10-minute setup you will be asked to choose a password and a passphrase. The password protects access to your account and the pass phrase protects your data. Your unique passphrase becomes part of your VODAStor 2.0 encryption algorithm. Each time you change a file, VODAStor 2.0 detects the change, encrypts and compresses the revision and sends it to a VODAStor 2.0 data center to be stored with the master copy of your file. Unlike our competition, you determine what files and folders to backup and you can set different backup procedures on a file-by-file basis. VODAStor 2.0 does not care if the file is located on your computer or somewhere else on your network. You just point and shoot and VODAStor 2.0 does the rest.
Our easy-to-use system lets you decide how often to backup and how many previous versions of your data to keep. Because only the changes or deltas of your data are stored, very small amounts of storage are used to maintain many versions. You can even ask VODAStor 2.0 to help you when data is destroyed by mistake. VODAStor 2.0 will maintain copies of files you have deleted for the period of time you determine preventing accidental deletions. This valuable tool will come in very handy one day, guaranteed.

Start the New Year off Right - Backup and Reformat
by Ken Yarmosh
The start of the New Year offers the perfect excuse to do some housekeeping work on your computer. I’m a Windows user, so I’m going to share some Windows specific advice on how to backup and reformat.
At the very least, do a backup of your most important data. Hopefully, any documents, photos, templates, and files of significance live in your “My Documents” folder. There’s a high likelihood that you could backup that folder alone and be OK.
If you are a music lover, you might not be able to fit all of your data on a CD or DVD (even though double layer DVDs let you back-up close to 9 GBs!). That’s where something like an iPod can come into play. You can throw all your music onto it (if you haven’t already) during the backup process.
There are also some newer tools that can make backups an easier process. Carbonite is one such tool - it offers online backup. While I’ve not personally used it, many in the blogosphere have spoken highly of it.
Once you’ve done a backup and ensured you are good to go, I suggest reformatting your hard drive. Even if you optimize your registry, defrag your drive, and run other maintenance utilities throughout the year, there is no better way to recoup the performance of your machine then to wipe the slate clean.
Before you do that, make sure you have: 1) A copy of your OS (in my case, Windows XP Pro). 2) The drivers for your hardware (if you have the re-install disc from your computer’s manufacturer, the OS and drivers will likely be on the same CD). 3) An inventory of the programs you want to reinstall.
Don’t be afraid if you have never re-formatted your drive. It’s a pretty simple process and there are a lot of great resources on the web that can assist you.
Here’s to faster computing in 2008!

Ask the VODA Expert
Q: How do I stop an application from running on startup in Vista?
A: This used to involve checking the startup folder and searching through various keys in the registry. In Vista, this task has been simplified. Go into “Control Panel” , at the top left click on “Control Panel Home”, then type “Startup” in the search tab on the right. Then click on “Windows Defender –stop a program from running at Startup”. You can now select the items you want to disable from running on startup, and click on remove or disable on the bottom right. On the right side, information is displayed about the application. Note, some required windows applications may appear like they cannot be disabled in this manner.
